Soap Fragrance OilsOur soap fragrance oils are among the finest on the market. In case you haven’t learned the hard way, not all oils are created the same. We don’t believe in bad mouthing the competition, so we will say that certain companies that sell cheap fragrance oils are selling just that...CHEAP fragrance oils.
There are 3 grades of soap fragrance oils. Some companies refer to the various grades by different names, but in general the 3 grades are called Cosmetics Grade, Manufacturer’s Grade, and Premium Grade. In layman’s terms, the grades could be considered weak, normal, and strong. Cosmetics Grade oils are suitable for use in general cosmetics and soaps. Most can also be used in candles. Manufacturer’s Grade soap fragrance oils are stronger than the cosmetics grade. You don’t need to use as much of the Manufacturer’s Grade fragrance but, of course, the medium grade costs more. Premium Grade soap fragrance oils are the top-of-the-line. They often cost three times as much as the Cosmetics grade, which is why most companies don’t offer the Manufacturer’s Grade.
Soap fragrance oils should be pure, uncut oil. Our oils are Manufacturer’s Grade and are pure and uncut. We mention the difference for a reason. At least two companies that sell cheap soap making oils online dilute their products with filler oils. The most common filler oil is Dipropylene Glycol commonly referred to as DPG. The soap fragrance oils market is very competitive. In an attempt to gain the upper edge, these companies dilute Premium Grade oils with up to 75% DPG or other filler oils. DPG is safe for use in cosmetics, but it produces a very faint fragrance oil. Rather than sell pure Cosmetics Grade soap fragrance oils, these companies offer highly diluted fragrances that will make inferior cosmetics, soaps, and candles. You’ll end up having to use more fragrance than recommended simply to achieve a decent level of scent.
Our soap fragrance oils are 100% pure, uncut Manufacturer’s Grade. We do not dilute our oils with DPG or any other filler oil. By popular request of our customers, beginning in January of 2011 we will offer all 3 grades of oils. We initially felt that offering the Manufacturer’s Grade would suit everyone’s needs, but we’ve had quite a few customers ask for the Premium Grade. We decided if we’re going to offer the most expensive Premium Grade, we might as well also offer the cheaper Cosmetics Grade.
If you’re unsure how much fragrance to use, check with the manufacturer of the soap base, cosmetic product or candle wax you’re using. All manufacturers and distributors list the maximum recommended fragrance level. Do not exceed the recommended maximum level. Adding too much fragrance to a cosmetics product could cause temporary and even permanent skin damage. Adding too much fragrance oil to a candle could cause a fire! When in doubt, check it out. Always adhere to the maximum recommended fragrance level established by the manufacturer or distributor of your product base. Georgia Body And Bath Co.
